THE LAUNCHING OF THE SCHOOL OF THE PROPHETS

Today marked a great day in the life of our ministry, God has allowed us to assist men sent to our ministry in the area of preaching, not to sound selfish but Full "G" is a great place to preach! We have several men on our staff keep them in your prayers who are faithful stewards of God's word, but today we launched what we're calling the school of the prophets, don't sign off on me! we base it on 2 kings 6
where these men were being innstructed by Elisha they were in school, some even suggest Amos was from this school.

6 Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See, the place where we dwell under your charge is too small for us. 2 Let us go to the Jordan and each of us get there a log, and let us make a place for us to dwell there.” And he answered, “Go.” 3 Then one of them said, “Be pleased to go with your servants.” And he answered, “I will go.” 4 So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees. 5 But as one was felling a log, his axe head fell into the water, and he cried out, “Alas, my master! It was borrowed.” 6 Then the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, ohe cut off a stick and threw it in there and made the iron float. 7 And he said, “Take it up.” So he reached out his hand and took it. (ESV)

We have about 16 committed men presently and today was great start where we primarily discussed what preaching is. We stressed the need to be an expository preacher, and the 3 P'S of preaching Proving, Painting, and Pursuading. Our focus today was on Observation and Interpretation, and the 4 bridge Gaps we preachers must cross being Language, Historical, cultural, and Geographical.

Please keep these men and our teaching team in prayer as we seek to help develop expositors of the gospel.

Until next time Numbers 6:24

Hey, Payne I am sure God will bless your efforts in imparting into the lives of those who attend the skill, biblical wisdom and experience you have gained from your years in ministry. What a great gift to share. Many of us as pastors would love to do what you are doing but due to time constriaints and just outwright lack of concern for other preachers we just haven't.

May God richly pour into your ministry as you pour out what God has blessed you with.

Be Encouraged.

Congrads. Man I am glad that you and the staff are taking time to share some of your wisdom and knowledge about the art of preaching. It's good to hear that you are being the same old Payne, continuing to unselfishly give of yourself. Keep up the good work man.

I will be in prayer for the students and teaching team of "the school of the prophets".

By the way, I was one of those who was going to sign off on you, but I continued to read on :-)

We as hearers need Proclaimers who will effectively preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ so we can remain or become doers of the word.

Be blessed

Praise God for continual learning. I may come myself on some of these sessions. I'm still learning how to preach.

What a blessing dear brother. I'm reminded of Paul's instructions to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2 "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Keep guarding and passing the truth!

Pastor, As one of the men currently serving on your staff, I cannot stress the importance of having a leader impart his knowledge and wisdom to his staff. I feel that this helps to forge a solid relationship between the staff minister, and the senior pastor. You are to be commended for stepping out on faith and implementing this "School of the prophets."

However, I would be remiss if I did not stress the importance of self education in the form of reading books by some of the foremost theologians and scholars of our day, attending conferences, and studying the word of God.

Also, I believe that it's equally important for the man of God who is fresh in the ministry, or continuing in the ministry, to get some formal training in a seminary, or bible college. This is where you acquire the tools to put in your tool box. Things such as Homiletic, Hermeneutics, Old Testament survey, New Testament Survey, etc. These are the things that will stick with you like grits sticks to the ribs.

Then of course, as the scripture admonishes us, "Forsake not the assembling of yourselves among the brethren..." Which is what the School of the Prophets is attempting to do, because it's true, "Iron does sharpen iron."

Wonderful work, be encourage and continue to wear yourself out as appose to rusting out for the glory of God.

Nehemiah 6:3 (New Living Translation, Second Edition) so I replied by sending this message to them: “I am engaged in a great work, so I can’t come. Why should I stop working to come and meet with you?”

If I am correct, I heard you were celebrating your 15th pastoral anniversary. If so, may you have a grand time of preaching and jubilation. Pastor Clinton said in his blog "he thinks he's preaching in this service" hope he has it figured out by now :) I know there will be great rejoicing in the Lord. Have a blessed time.

Congratulations on time served!
